In October 2011 the Nano Structuring Center emerged from the Nano+Bio Center of the University of Kaiserslautern.

The Nano Structuring Center (NSC) is a facility of the University. It is equipped with up to date fabrication and characterization instrumentation within 255 square meters of laboratory space, including 55 sqm class 100 clean room space. The NSC provides its equipment, laboratories and its know-how to all the faculties of the University, but also to non-university institutes and industry. The NSC as a service center offers a very broad range of expertise and equipment wich would not be possible for individual work groups. The NSC is part of the State Research Center OPTIMAS as a service institution.
