Profile

Electrochemistry has developed into a modern interdisciplinary science with its applications ranging from Material sciences to Biotechnology. Today, modern industrial sectors such as the energy industry, basic chemicals, polymers, surface refinement, microsystem technologies, diagnostics and environmental monitoring necessitate knowledge and expertise in electrochemistry. The Center for Electrochemical Sciences (CES) has been founded by Ruhr-Universität Bochum and Max-Planck Institut für Eisenforschung, Düsseldorf. It is financially supported by the NRW state in the framework of the HighTech.NRW competition and ThyssenKrupp Steel. CES is regarded as a Center of Excellence with the task to ensure international competitive research in modern and future electrochemistry at a high standard.
